Heat, light, sunset times and the busy Saturdays, month by month, so you can choose your date and plan the day around the best light.
Cyprus has a long wedding season, from April to November, and each part of it feels different. This is how the year looks from behind the camera.
April and May. Green hills, wild flowers and warm but comfortable days, in the low to mid twenties. Sunset is around 19:30 in April and close to 20:00 by the end of May. A lovely time for couples who want softer heat.
June. Long, bright days and sunset just after 20:00. Hot in the middle of the day, so most ceremonies move to the late afternoon.
July and August. The hottest months, often above 30°C on the coast and hotter inland. Sunset is around 20:00 in July and 19:40 by late August. Plan the ceremony for 17:30 or later, keep the guests in the shade, and the evening light by the sea is the reward.
September and October. Our favourite months: the sea is at its warmest, the heat softens and the light turns golden earlier, with sunset around 19:00 in September and 18:20 in October. These are the most requested Saturdays of the year.
November to March. Quieter and cooler, with rain mostly in winter and sunset as early as 16:40 in December. The clocks go back on the last Sunday of October, so a late-October wedding loses an hour of evening light.
Church weddings. The Orthodox Church does not hold weddings during some periods of the year, such as Great Lent and Holy Week, 1 to 15 August and the weeks before Christmas. Always confirm your date with the church first.
Planning around the light. Whatever the month, we plan your couple portraits for the last hour before sunset. Saturdays from May to October are booked first, often a year or more ahead, so check your date as early as you can.
