How a traditional Cypriot wedding and a destination wedding in Cyprus usually run, with real times, and how many hours of photography each one needs.
Every wedding is planned around its own church time and sunset, but most days in Cyprus follow a similar rhythm. These are two typical summer Saturdays.
A traditional Cypriot wedding. Around 14:00, the groom gets ready at his family home: the shaving, the music and the family around him. Around 15:00, the bride at hers: the dressing, the red sash and the blessings of the family. Around 17:00, the church: the guests arrive, the bride makes her entrance and the mystery of marriage takes place, followed by the wishes of the guests. Around 18:30, the couple portraits in the last light. From about 20:00, the reception: the entrance, the first dance, the couple’s dance with the family and the party.
How many hours. For the church and the reception, about 6 hours of photography is enough. To include the preparations at both homes, most couples choose 10 hours, and 12 hours keeps us with you until midnight.
A destination wedding. Around 13:00, getting ready at the hotel or villa. Around 16:30, the ceremony, civil or symbolic, often by the sea or in the gardens. Around 17:15, family photos, then drinks while the light softens. Around 19:00, the couple portraits in the golden hour. Around 20:00, dinner and speeches, then the first dance and the party.
How many hours. Our destination collections run from 5 hours, for the ceremony, the portraits and the start of the evening, to 10 hours, from the preparations to the party.
Three things that make the day easier. Leave 15 minutes of space after the ceremony for the hugs and wishes. Set the portraits for the last hour before sunset, not the middle of the afternoon. And tell us the church time as soon as you have it: the rest of the day is planned around it.
