Alexandros at home
The morning began at Alexandros' family home, with violinists playing traditional music in the living room and friends arriving one after another.
There was the traditional shave, the red scarf waved over the groom, and then the suit, the cufflinks and the buttonhole, with his parents close by.

Maria at Aliathon
Maria got ready at Aliathon Resort, by the white chapel, with her bridesmaids in emerald green, balloons on the ceiling and plenty of laughter.
The dress waited on its stand until the bridesmaids laced it up, and Maria finished with her shoes and a pair of sunglasses.

Through the resort
The violinists led Maria and her bridesmaids through Aliathon to the white courtyard by the chapel, with dancing all the way.
In the courtyard her mother and father tied the red sash, one of the oldest customs of a Cypriot wedding, before she left for the church.

To Saint Nikolaos
The violinists walked Alexandros and his groomsmen to the church of Saint Nikolaos by the sea, and Maria followed by car with her father.
Alexandros waited outside with the bouquet, and they met in front of the white church.

The ceremony
The Orthodox ceremony took place under the painted icons of Saint Nikolaos, with the rings, the crowns and the common cup, surrounded by family and friends.

Rice, petals and the party
Alexandros and Maria came out of the church to rice and petals, and Maria threw her bouquet on the steps.
From there everyone went back to Aliathon Resort, where the party carried on into the night.
