Small and boutique wedding venues in Cyprus

Village inns, stone estates, a winery, a golf estate and a monastery in the hills: the smaller, more personal venues in Cyprus where we have photographed and filmed real weddings, and what each one is like.

Not every Cyprus wedding needs a resort. Many of the couples we work with want somewhere with character, room for their closest people and nobody else, and a setting that feels like Cyprus. These are the smaller and boutique venues where we have photographed and filmed weddings ourselves. Guest numbers, rooms and menus change, so always confirm the details with the venue.

Vasilias Nikoklis Inn, Paphos. A family-run inn in a restored stone building more than a century old, just outside the village of Nikoklia in the Diarizos valley, about half an hour from Paphos airport. Ceremonies take place in the eucalyptus garden with views towards the mountains, or in the vine-covered courtyard for smaller weddings, and the kitchen serves traditional Cypriot food from their own olive oil and garden. The inn has eight rooms including a bridal suite, so the two of you and your closest family can stay. It is the venue we have photographed most often.

Liopetro, Kouklia. Sixteenth-century farm buildings of stone and wood behind their own walls, close to Aphrodite’s birthplace and about fifteen minutes from Paphos airport. There are several spaces, from a covered secret garden for small weddings to a sea-view circle for the larger ones, and a white gazebo for civil ceremonies. Across the road stands the twelfth-century church of Panagia Odigitria. There are no guest rooms, but there is a bridal suite for getting ready.

Alassos, Paphos. A sea-view lawn on the Coral Bay road, a shaded garden for drinks and long tables under fairy lights for dinner. One wedding a day, with a bridal suite on site and civil, symbolic and Anglican ceremonies.

Coral Residences, Coral Bay. A private villa complex with a clubhouse that opens onto a deck under the trees and its own sandy beach, one of the few private venues in Paphos where you can marry with your feet in the sand. It suits weddings of thirty to a hundred and fifty guests, and the villas around it can house your family.

Eléa Estate, Paphos. A golf estate on the hill above Geroskipou with sea views, ten to fifteen minutes from Paphos airport. It is licensed for civil ceremonies, has six ceremony and reception spaces, each with a covered option, and becomes yours alone after sunset. There are no rooms on site, but Paphos hotels are minutes away. The lake and the course at golden hour are made for portraits.

Minthis, Tsada. A hilltop golf resort among olive groves, twenty minutes from Paphos airport, with a twelfth-century monastery, Stavros tis Minthis, inside the grounds. Ceremonies can take place in the monastery courtyard and cloisters, in the herb garden or on the lawn above the course, and guests can stay in suites on the estate. Couples can plant an olive tree with their wedding date.

Anassa, Polis. A luxury hotel built like a Cypriot village above Chrysochou Bay, about fifty minutes from Paphos airport. The small chapel of Ayia Athanasia on the village square seats around forty, and receptions range from a terrace for sixteen to the square itself. With 166 rooms and suites, everyone can stay. Civil weddings are held at Polis Town Hall on weekdays.

Apokryfo, Lofou. Old stone houses on the edge of Lofou village in the Limassol hills, turned into a boutique guesthouse with suites, houses and a courtyard around the pool for up to about a hundred guests. For a small wedding you can take over the whole place, so your guests stay together in the village.

Ktima Christoudia and Lefkara. A stone winery estate near Lefkara, about forty minutes from Larnaca airport, with ceremonies outdoors overlooking the vines and outside caterers of your choice. In Lefkara village itself, the church of the Holy Cross, with its carved wooden iconostasis, is a beautiful setting for an Orthodox wedding.

Galu Seaside, Larnaca. A beachfront venue on Oroklini beach, about twenty minutes from Larnaca airport, with ceremonies on the sand or on terraces over the sea. It holds very large weddings too, but its beach and sunset suit an intimate one just as well.

Choosing between them. If you want your guests to stay with you, look at Vasilias Nikoklis, Apokryfo, Minthis, Anassa or the villas at Coral Residences. For a church wedding nearby, Liopetro, Minthis, Anassa and Lefkara each have a church or chapel on the doorstep. For the sea, choose Coral Residences, Alassos, Galu or Eléa. Whatever you choose, we plan the day around the light at that venue, so your portraits happen in the best hour.
